In Touch With the Land: Exploring Opportunities for Landscape Design at the Post-Remediation Giant Mine Site is a landscape design study conducted by Timothy Bailey Edwards, a homegrown Yellowknifer. Supported by Alternatives North and the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation, the study is grounded in conversations with local Indigenous organizations and community members. It responds to the deep historical, cultural, and environmental significance of the Giant Mine site—acknowledging its legacy of contamination, human tragedy, and loss of traditional land use—while proposing design interventions that invite public reflection, engagement, and long-term stewardship.
